Court Advocacy 20-Hour Training

April 2, 5 and 9, 2010
8:30 a.m  - 5:00 p.m.
Training fee for members $100
Training fee for non-members $200.

Course Description:  This 20-Hour training is designed to provide court advocates with hands-on skills to better advocate for your client and provide effective legal advocacy.Over the course of  the training , we will address a wide variety of topics related to navigating the court system in Cook County.

Completion of the 40-Hour DomesticViolence Training is a prerequisite for attending the Court Advocacy Training.

Credits Offered: 20 contact hours, 20 CEUs for LSWs, LCSWs, LCPCs and ICDVPs.

40- Hour Domestic Violence Training


April 12, 14, 19, 21, 26 & 28 (Mondays & Wednesdays)
8:30am - 4:30 pm

Training starts promptly at 8:30am


Under Illinois state law (the Illinois Domestic Violence Act - IDVA) - staff and volunteers of domestic violence programs are required to complete a 40-Hour training to maintain confidentiality for their work with survivors of domestic violence.


The Domestic Violence 40-Hour Training is the basic training for new domestic violence workers. The training comes from the grassroots domestic violence movement's perspective, providing participants with the movement's philosophical and political framework. Interactive educational models and skill-building activities are used to convey ideas.

Training fee for non-members: $300

Training fee for members: $200 (maximum of 3 per agency)

Training fee for member interns and volunteers: $150

The Principles of Nonprofit Management

Course Description:  Increased demand for services and scarce resources have made nonprofit management skills more crititcal that ever.  The domestic violence community is not exception to this trend.  Effective management tools must be developed and utilized to sustain existent programs and to continue creating viable options for battered women and their children.  At this training, participants wil learn analytical and problem solving techniques unique to nonprofit organizations.  Additionally, participants will examine the fundamental principles of nonprofit management as well as the responsibilities of a nonprofit board of directors.
Credits Offered: 5 contact hours, 5 CEUs LSWs, LCSWs, LCPCs and  ICDVPs
